Billing rules
Attribution
The free plan asks one thing in return: a visible “Powered by KickoffAPI” credit, linked to this site, wherever the data appears. On any paid plan — Starter, Pro, Ultra or Enterprise — that licence condition no longer applies.
Our embeddable widgets carry their own badge by default, and that is a separate, product-level thing: removing it from a widget is a perk of the Ultra and Enterprise plans specifically, not a consequence of being on any paid plan. Starter and Pro customers are fully licensed to use the API without a credit elsewhere on their site, but a widget embedded from Starter or Pro still shows "Powered by KickoffAPI".
7-day free trial
New accounts get a one-time 7-day free trial that starts when you add a card. It is one trial per account, for accounts that have just signed up — upgrading an established free account, or subscribing again after a previous subscription, starts billing straight away. The free Hobby plan never needs one — it's always free.

Pay yearly on any paid plan and get 2 months free (~17% off the monthly price).
Overage — opt-in
Exceed your daily limit and requests return HTTP 429 unless you have prepaid credits. If credits are available, they are consumed automatically (up to 2× your daily limit on paid plans, 200 requests on the free tier). No credits = 429. Rates are on your plan page.
Refunds & cancellation
Try everything first: the free Hobby plan never expires, and new accounts get a 7-day trial on any paid plan. Because of that, subscription fees and prepaid API credits are non-refundable once charged, except where required by law. Cancel any time before renewal and you keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for — see the Terms of Service.
Uptime SLA
The 99.9% uptime guarantee with service credits is an Enterprise feature. All plans run on the same infrastructure — the SLA adds a contractual commitment and credits when we miss it.

What counts as a request?
Each API call to any endpoint counts as one request. Cached responses from our edge still count against your quota.
Can I switch plans?
Yes. Change plans from your dashboard at any time; the billing page shows exactly what you will pay before you confirm.
What happens at my daily limit?
Requests beyond the limit return HTTP 429 and the counter resets at midnight UTC. On a paid plan, prepaid credits (if you have bought any) are used automatically, up to 2× your daily limit. Without credits, it is a 429 until the reset.
Do I need a card for Free?
No. The Hobby plan is free forever, requires no credit card, and never expires. You only add a payment method if you upgrade to a paid plan or start a trial.
